what is lupus?

To put it in simpler terms, it is an autoimmune disease. Instead of the body fighting infections, Lupus causes the body to attack the healthy tissue within the body. Lupus causes inflammation and pain either within the body or the skin. The common affected areas are the skin, joints, and internal organs such as the kidneys and heart. But don’t get misinformed, Lupus can affect many parts of the body.

what are the different types of lupus?

Types of Lupus include: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), which is the most common form of lupus. Cutaneous Lupus, which is limited to the skin. Drug-induced Lupus, which is considered lupus-like and is caused by certain prescription drugs. Neonatal Lupus, which is rare and affects infants of women who have lupus.

what lupus means to me?

Lupus has affected my family in a major way. I have had several family members pass on due to lupus complications. Lupus runs in my family. I am such an advocate for Lupus due to the how I have seen it has affected those closest to me over my lifetime. If I can aid, in any way, to help figure out the mystery of Lupus and to find a cure, I want to be that advocate.
